Spring Cleaning: 4 Places to Visit in Your Home

As spring slowly approaches and we move into a season of re-growth, it's important to take a step back and de-clutter so we as people can grow too. One of my favourite ways to feel refreshed and revitalized for spring is to do a little spring cleaning! Here are 4 places in my home that I always visit to deep clean as spring nears:

1. Kitchen Pantry - The kitchen pantry can sometimes become a storage unit that we fill with unused and often expired snacks, canned goods, and spices. When I spring clean, I always make sure to completely clear out my pantry and throw out those expired spices I've been holding onto. I often find foods that I've bought, and are still good, but never eaten. A great way to make use of them is to donate them to your local food bank. Clearing out your pantry is also a great way to inspire you in the kitchen!

2. Bathroom Cupboards - I can't even begin to tell you how many half used bottles of shampoo I find in my bathroom cupboard during spring cleaning! It feels so good to get into your bathroom and clear out those products you've stopped using. As women, we often are switching up our beauty routines, trying out different soaps, shampoos, creams, etc. So, I always make sure I clear out my bathroom and either throw out or give away those products I don't like anymore.

3. Your Closet - One of my favourite places to spring clean! As every season passes, I fall into new styles and trends and end up with a closet full of clothes I never wear. When warm weather starts to approach and new styles come into season, I love to clear my closet of clothes I don't like or wear anymore - to make room for the new clothes of course ;). A great way to help you get rid of some stuff is to create piles. I always create 3 piles - keep, give away, unsure. You can either throw away, donate, or even sell the clothes in your "give away" pile. I like to hang onto my "unsure" pile, display the items up front in my closet for a few weeks to see if I end up wearing any of them. If not, they are donated or sold!

4. The Junk Drawer - Everyone has that dreaded junk drawer full of, well...junk. As easy as it is to keep shoving stuff into that drawer and forgetting about it, it's great to clean it out every once and a while. It's amazing how many things you can find in there, most of which are just taking up space and contributing to clutter and often things you've been looking everywhere for, for months! I always like to empty out my junk drawer and throw away anything thats not serving me purpose, which is mostly the contents of the entire drawer.

Part of my spring cleaning is also reorganizing. I absolutely love using clear containers, bins, and boxes to create an organization system for all 4 of these places in my home. I often use glass containers or large jars to store items in my pantry such as flours, sugars, oats, rice, pasta, etc. For items like cans, snacks, spices, etc. I use bins/boxes to separate and organize by item. I also love to use to use bins and boxes in my bathroom to organize my many beauty products, and in my closet to organize small garments or accessories like socks, swim suits, belts, hats, and scarves. These organization products are great because they are clear, which allows you to see the contents without having to dig through it! They are a lifesaver to keep your home organized and clean all the way until next spring!
