Essential oils are incredible resources for those who love to keep it au natural. These tiny bottles are filled with the purest and highest quality oils that are literally all-purpose. I'm going to share my top 3 most essential, essential oils that I always keep on hand to use in my everyday life!

1. Lavender - Lavender is the one of the most versatile essential oils. Aside from it's beautiful aroma, Lavender oil is most commonly known for it's calming properties, and is amazing for relief of stress, anxiety, insomnia. I usually diffuse the oil in my bedroom a few hours before bed, and the calming scent of this oil puts me right to sleep, stress and worry free. No diffuser - no problem. They can be expensive, and as an equally effective alternative, sprinkle a few drops on your pillows or blankets before bed. In addition to stress relief, Lavender oil is great for those who suffer from skin irritations such as dry skin, eczema, and psoriasis (especially during those cold, winter months!). I usually like to dilute the oil with a carrier oil (coconut oil is great for this) or even some fragrance free moisturizer and apply topically to the irritated area. I always get incredible results, sometimes even as fast as overnight!

2. Lemon - Lemon oil is a great oil to keep in the kitchen and bathrooms. This oil acts as a non-toxic cleanser which is great if you have little ones, or if you just like to keep things natural! I always add a few drops to a spray bottle filled with water for a natural cleaning solution. I also like to add a few drops to my water in the mornings for an invigorating beverage. Not only can you add this to your water, but you can also add this to your recipes in the kitchen! Bonus tip: My pet peeve when buying kitchen dinnerware and tupperware is those pesky stickers that never seem to peel off! I've discovered that sprinkling a drop or two onto the sticker when wet, and then gently rubbing removes the sticker and glue completely - hassle free!

3. Peppermint - One of my favourite oils! Peppermint is incredible for mundane illnesses such as headache, upset stomach, and even sore muscles. Whether I ate too much or it's that time of the month, I can always rely on Peppermint oil to cure my upset stomach. I rub 1-2 drops directly on my stomach (dilute if you have sensitive skin) to ease the discomfort, and within minutes I am already feeling better. For headaches and migraines, I rub 1 drop on each temple (be careful not to get in you eyes!). Mind you, this oil is very potent and can sometimes cause a burning sensation -which I personally love, but not everyone does. Another great use for this oil is in the kitchen. During the winter months, I love to make peppermint hot chocolates and mochas. Adding a drop or two to my hot beverages gives them the perfect wintery twist!

When purchasing essential oils, it's important to use recognized, high quality brands to ensure safe and pure ingredients. Check out the links below for my favourite and most trusted brand of essential oils!
